History of Reindls

HYSTORY OF OUR HOTEL

In 1911 the Cholewa family built the Partenkirchner Hof, today’s main building. With its elevator and running warm and cold water, it was one of the most modern hotels in Germany! Back then roulette was played in the same spot where today our guests enjoy their Latte Macchiatos in the afternoon or cocktails in the evening. And what is now the spacious restaurant was once used as a magnificent ballroom.

In 1931 we, the Reindl family, took over the hotel. The Olympic Games 1936 made Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the Reindl's Partenkirchner Hof famous.

This made the years during and after World War II all the more sad, when first the Nazis seized the Hotel as a hospital and then the American forces used it as headquarters.

It wasn’t until 1959 that the keys were officially handed over and the house could finally be used again for the purpose it was built—as an upscale hotel with exquisite cuisine!

After years abroad, learning at the best restaurants and hotels in Europe, son Karl Reindl returned to Garmisch-Partenkirchen that same year to manage the Hof together with his mother and his wife Bruni. The word about our exceptionally fine cuisine spread quickly among the gourmets. This achievement was honored with a Michelin star that brightened the restaurant for the next 14 years. Quality and variety remain the trademark of Reindl´s Partenkirchner Hof—even today, in the third generation, under the leadership of daughter Marianne Holzinger.

Again and again, we have made improvements and responded to the requests of our guests. But some things have remained unchanged throughout the years: the charming family atmosphere aimed to make you feel good and the lovingly furnished rooms.
